Roel Vankerckhoven

 Roel completed his BA and MA of Music in Music Theatre Performance/Teaching at Fontys Conservatoire. He also completed a degree in Language Literature and Theatre Studies at the University of Antwerp.

In addition to years of practice as a private teacher in Amsterdam, Roel is also associated with the Lucia Marthas Institute of Performing Arts (singing, choir and voice lessons within the Musical Theatre programme) and with the Amsterdam School of the Arts (UC/JMD and ECD programmes). Within these programmes, he frequently acts as musical director and/or vocal coach for the final performances.

The professional field also appreciates his qualities as a vocal coach. For instance in (musical) theatre productions such as Fiddler on the Roof, Know me, the Hazes-musical Hij gelooft in mij, De tweeling, Hello Dolly. At the event Sint in de Piste (Sint-Niklaas, Belgium), he is responsible for making the vocal arrangements and vocal coaching the cast.

Roel’s expertise lies not only in his professional training, but also in his extensive practical experience. As a singer/actor in, among others, Kruimeltje, Joe, Anatevka and Mamma Mia, and also as a voice actor in numerous video and audio productions.

Roel is a member of the Dutch Association of Voice Teachers (NVZ, part of the EVTA) and performs his work according to their professional code. In June 2023 Roel graduated as a Master Teacher within the Universal Voice System.
